Microsoft has dropped the price of the XBox another $30 to $149. Apparently this is a way that Microsoft is trying to get a better foothold in a market owned by Sony’s PlayStation 2. I have suggested early on that Microsoft should take the approach that they took with Netscape and just give away the Xbox for free. Then they can win the whole market and make money with royalties on the games. But, Steve Balmer won’t listen to me. Maybe I am crazy, but although the XBox is great (nice graphics), it is still a clunky PC that attaches to a TV. There are not that many exciting exclusive games for the system and therefore is not as desirable as the PS2. Maybe I am wrong.
