I cancelled my Gamefly account last week. I had returned a game at the beginning of June and it had gotten lost in the mail. I reported it lost via their web interface a week after I sent the game back. Nothing happened for another week, so I reported it lost again through their web interface, still nothing though. After another week, I emailed them to see what happened and they never responded.

I am paying for a two-games-out plan, yet in June I had only one game in my hands because their support department was not getting to their lost games report queue. That was not economic for me and it was a bit annoying. I cancelled my subscription and sent the one remaining game I had back. I followed up the cancellation with an email to their support team to let them know that I did not have the game that was lost in the mail. I also let them know that I would dispute any charges to my credit card for that game.

Last night, I received an email from Gamefly stating that I had a “delinquent” game and if they “do not receive the disc(s) by 7/7/2005, [they] must assume that [I] want to keep the game(s) and [my] credit card will be charged a replacement fee equal to the full retail value of the game(s).” Huh? I had reported this thing lost four times over the period of a month and now they are saying that they are going to charge me the full price for the damned thing? I sent one more email letting them know, but I figured that the email was flying into some sort of support blackhole.

I followed up this morning with a call to their support phone line, which is buried deep in their FAQ system (for those of you who need to know: 1-888-986-6400). I waited on the phone for about 10 minutes and a customer service rep named Kevin helped me get the game off my queue. The customer service rep was friendly, helpful and got it done in less than five minutes. He looked in the system and verified what I thought: The support@gamefly.com email address is a blackhole or something, since he did not see any emails from me going into that support address.

Anyways, here is my assessment of Gamefly based on my stay there and this is all coming from a guy who is spoiled by Netflix:

  • The game turn around is slow. If I put a game in the mail Monday morning, they will not receive it until Wednesday. If the game at the top of my queue is available, they will send it that day and I won’t get it until Friday. If the game at the top of my queue is not available, they will wait the whole day to see if it returns during the day. If not, the next day they will send out the next available game on my queue. That means that the game will get to me on Saturday. The good thing is that they receive and ship six days a week (Mon-Sat).
  • The game selection is really good and they usually have new stuff available for rental.
  • The system for reporting lost games stinks (please see my rant above). If you are a Gamefly member or have joined, do use the customer support phone number instead of the web form since it looks to be the most efficient way of getting a lost game removed from your queue.

Overall, if they had more warehouses (like Netflix) and could get a better turn around on the games, then this would be a great service — just for comparison, if I send a movie to Netflix on Monday, I’d get a movie back on Wednesday. Yes, I know game rentals are different from movie rentals in that a game is to be played for a long period of time rather a movie which is watch in two to three hours. But, I don’t play all games all the way through most of the time and like to “sample” games. I figured Gamefly would be a good way to sample different games and keep the ones I like for longer. With the long turn around time though, it would not be cost effective. Also, they need to clean up their customer service issues — mostly technical — so that customers, like me, do not get frustrated and cancel their subscription.

Same here, I am on your past steps now, I mailed one of the games on last last Friday. Last Wed, I didn’t see they have report receiving that game, I sent an email thru that online ‘contact us’ form to ask whether I should submit a ‘report lost game’ form. No reply after two days, then I report a lost of game. Up till now, I did not receive any info of what to do next, except that auto reply email after I submitted the form. I just found out their phone number (from Google) before I read your blog, anyway, I will be calling them tomorrow, or my Q will just get stuck and paying two games for one only.

I do agree that their game collection is good, but should have post their phone contact in a more visible level.

Thanks much for sharing your experience.

I echo both responses collectively. I sent Area 51 on July 2. A week later I mailed out Midnight Club DUB and within two weeks they received it. The date is now July 24 and they STILL have not received Area 51 but seem dead-set on charging me for this game dispite numerous emails saying it was shipped out. To make matter worse, I cancelled the service due to an upcoming deployment to which they replied: Since you cancelled your account and have not returned your game, we assume you are keeping the game and will charge your account accordingly. Luckily, after searching the site for an ACTUAL number, I decided to play it smart and see if GOOGLE would help out, and it did.

My thanks to Mookie for the number. The game selection is awesome but it’s the timelieness of returns that will keep me from rejoining.

  3. Thomas

Oh man you guys are right on. I have had the same problem sent numerous emails concerning game lost in the mail. My problem is they say they sent me a game that I never recieved. So now I have a game lost in the mail that I returned and a game lost in the mail that they supposedly sent me. Needless to say my days of using Gamefly are over. I dont recomend using their service.

  4. Jacob Miller

I’ve be a member of gamefly for about a year now. It seems they have really improved on their shipping, I receive most games in about 2 days (east coast). Once they didn’t receive a game I sent back. I notified customer support, they were very friendly, and quickly solved the problem and sent out the next game in my queue.
For me there is no service like gamefly.

  5. Mike Carew

Gamefly in my opinion is very bad. I have had netflix for awhile so i might just be spoiled also.
With gamefly, they would send me a game on monday, and i would not get it untill thursday. One of my games got lost in the mail. Gamefly is 30 dollars for 3 at a time. Their email is bad, and if it wasnt for mookie here, i would have never found the phone number. I have tried 3 online rental services. Gamefly, netflix, and gameznflix. In my opinion gamefly is the worst. Right now I am in the process of switching from netflix to gameznflix which offers 3 games or movies at a time for 17 dollars a month. Its cheaper than netflix or gamefly and seems to have more of a selection than both. (excluding a few movies off of netflix) The turn-around is as good as netflix also. I could send a game (or movie) out on monday and get a new one on wed. Well right now im trying to get 70 dollars taken off my credit card because gamefly charged me for games kept after 7 days after cancellation. One game i didnt even receive, and the other 2 I didnt get till 3 days before the 7 days extra ended.

  6. OD

I’ve had the opposite experience. I got tired of crappy service from gameznflix, and heard so much good about netflix that I jumped over, and from there it only made sense to try gamefly, also, and it works just fine. I’ve never even needed to get in contact with them but thanks to mookie I’ll try the number if I ever need it. My post office is good and fast so the turnaround time is usually about three days and to get something almost all the way across the country that’s pretty good.

  7. Justin

I’ve tried both Gamegly and Gameznflix. Basically Gameznflix is super fast for shipping, but their selection sucks, and new releases don’t get to their warehouse for up to 2 weeks sometimes.
Gamefly’s selection is great, but yes their shipping times are slow and their customer service sucks. I just can’t wait until I get out of my 60 day period and can switch to 3 games out at a time, I think that will help alot. Plus with Gamefly, new releases ship within 2 days if your queue is empty (which I puposely do so I can get those games). I’ll probably cancel Gameznflix and stick to Gamefly. I’m going to look into finding a post office that will hand-scan the returns. FastReturn works 10% of the time.

  8. Chromos0me

HA! The same exact thing happened to me!… Except I’m still dealing with it… I actually just stopped by for the phone number… I guess I’m about to talk to Kevin. Thanks for the help!!

  9. Ernest P

What a pain. The first game I received in my first month of subscription of Gamefly is the WRONG game. Not even close to what I ordered. I used the automated email form on their website to report my problem (which an above poster precisely describes as a ‘blackhole’) :) Sure enough I have received no response after waiting the 24-48 hrs it tells you to wait.

Finally, after some internet sleuthing, I find their toll-free number, get in touch with a human, who is very helpful and managed to correct the problem quickly.

I first impression has not been a good one.

I intend to cancel my account at the end of the month, as well; which I only sign-up for anyways to help a friend get a free wii!

  10. paul

I hate GameFly… i have had a 2 game pass for 4 months now.. i got the first 2 games quickly and with no problems… i sent them back a week later… then it was nearly 2 months untill i got another game… and when they did finally send me something it was only one game.. so hear it is 4 months later and in total i have only got 3 games… 3 games of witch i had 2 of them for only a week… and for this i paid $80 man what a deal????? then today i called the phone number… and it says… that is you have any questions or problems you can E-mail them at that blackhole E-mail adress and then they said GOOD BYE… so basically i can E-mail an adress that no one reads or i can call a computerized lady that basically tells me to Fuck Off… Game Fly is the worst service i have ever had… and i have had some my fair share of shitty service..

  11. Jason

This is totally outdated. From ‘05! I’ve been with gamefly for a couple years and the shipping speeds have really improved since then. They’ve also recently announced a new distribution center in PA for faster shipping in east coast states. The one time I contacted customer support, I emailed and got a response next day. Bottom line, they are the best company offering this service!

  12. Brent

Gamefly is a joke!!!! I am in the 9th day of my 10day trial and still no games received. I emailed them 4 days ago and still now response. It is impossible to find their phone number. The y post their customer service hours but then don’t post the phone #. How stupid is that. Then I find the # on this site and call and all I get is a voice message telling me I to call again later even though it was during the business hours they say they are open on. Gamefly is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Like many of you I have Netflix and they are great. If Gamefly held their standards half as high as Netflix I’d be ok. Thank you gamefly, for bending me over and making me take it like a man. Next time, could you please use some lube???

  13. Kim

We are also spoiled by Netflix. I sent two games back in one sleeve and only received credit for one of the games. I have sent two e-mails with NO response and I am currently on “ignore” trying to get this resolved. I will be sending back the game that I have and cancelling my membership.

  14. Larry

What the??? Is this some kind of anti-gamefly campaign? I’ve been with them for a year and have only seen the service improve? I’m not going to call anyone out but I recognize a couple comments here that sound very very similar (in some cases verbatim) to others I’ve seen posted on other gaming sites and while I’m not going to start pointing fingers it seems a wee bit suspicious. Call me paranoid, I’m just sayin. Anyway, like I said, I’ve used gamefly for a year now and they just keep getting better. Most recently with the distro center in PA. They’re the only way you’re even going to touch new 360 releases in the rental arena. I don’t get all the hatin. Seems fishy to me. And really, I don’t want to sound like a jerk but don’t send two games back in one envelope. I mean duh? They scan these things and who knows how long it is between when that happens and someone actually opens the thing up. And then someone needs to backtrack and enter in the second game received. I guess it’s unavoidable that I’m going to sound like a complete tool but in some instances we’re looking at a case of “system superior to operator.” Sorry, gotta call it like it is. Still, you can correct your mistake by calling their customer service number and telling them what you did. Just pick up the phone. I’m going to stand out as the lone supporter here and tell ya that gamefly is hand’s down the only rental service worth using. Try out the alternatives if you have to convince yourself. You’ll see.

  15. David

Gamefly is Horrible, don’t use this service. It all started Tuesday the 14th signed up late night didn’t expect anything to happen until tomrrow. Checked back online the next day (15th) sure enough but 7pm, GF said my game was sent out with a email confirmation. It is now Tuesday again (the 21st) and nothing. I emailed and nothing, so I searched out to find the number since they don’t have it on the website, becuase they obviously don’t want people calling. Now, I’m going to call tomorrow and hope thing get fixed.

Keep in mind, I started out having high hopes of being a long term customer., and even wanting to upgrade my game plan on the second day ( good thing I didn’t).

  16. JASON PANICK

OK I AGREE THIS SERVICE IS CRAP AT THE MOMENT!

they really need to hire some people in the higher up managment spots to fix these ongoing issues.

For one I got a coupon for gamefly, 15 day free trial
I went signed up with it, just FOUR days later I get an email saying that my account is on HOLD because someone else at my address used a promo code.
Ok well I live in a home with FIVE other students, one has gamefly
I emailed them back and told them that the credit card is different and the promotion is different
they dont care….. ok fine whatever, I cancel my account then sign up again 3 days later for FULL PRICE!!! NO DISCOUNTS

two days go by… no games sent…. BUT OH WAIT! A GAMEFLY EMAIL………. ” Hello, you cant use two discounts at the same address” !!
WHAT THE FREAKING HELL!!! I SIGNED UP AT FULL PRICE !! MORONS

Now im going to have to wait untill these morons activate my account

THE 1800 NUMBER is only active for FOUR HOURS A DAY M-F

This company has potential IF NETFLIX buys them out
because clearly the people calling the shots SUCK!

  17. Dan

Ive been a gamefly customer for about a year. I find that most of the time they do a pretty good job shipping games to my place. I have had a game they sent me that was lost in the mail. I emailed gamefly and four days later they finally received my e-mail. I have to admit my patience was running thin considering iam paying money everyday to play games I dont have. Anyways, they emailed me and said they sent me a replacement. I have no problem games getting lost in the mail, it happens , but they may need to hire more employees to correct these problems and respond quickly. I found that upgrading to a 3 game option seems to help when it comes to waiting for a game to come in. I was with blockbuster for a while. I had TWO GAMES OUT FOR 40 DOLLARS. So for the most part gamefly is a good provider of game rentals, but It is very frustrating when something like “lost mail” happens. They like to hide there number on their site, that it why iam here. There server is down at this time, and I need to contact customer service. Everynow and then gamefly never ceases to leave a bad taste in my mouth, but considering all the games I have rented it hasnt been to bad….. yet.

  18. Abbas

Ive been with gamefly for more than a year, and never had problems until recently.I canceled the membership and forgot to send the game back.Snce I did’nt received any notification from them, I thought everything is cool, until one day I received an email saying they are charging me fees for not returning a game.I started my search and found that very game hidden under the TV trolly.I personally plased the game @ the post office.
They charged my acount $31.80 the very next day and its been 8days they have’nt received the game and my account has not been credited.
Now I wished I should have kept the game, since Iam paying for It…
Yeh!!!!the 1800 number is a big bunch of scam…Ive been calling PST/CST/EST all the time, its the freeking recording…
    New members….BE CAREFUL..Save money,buy a game,dont rent…

  19. Chris

I had no problem with Gamefly service until just recently. I just got the Red Ring of Death on my Xbox 360 and it’s going to be a month until they can fix it, so I cancelled my Gamefly account and sent both games I had back to Gamefly the following day. Gamefly’s email system keeps emailing me telling me they haven’t received the games and will charge my account if they do not receive them in 7 days. I find this suspicious since I’ve never had any prior problems shipping games in the year I’ve had the service and I wonder if this is a scam since there really is no way to prove you don’t have the games and no way for them to prove they haven’t received them. Sounds like that could be a lucrative scam if you force people into collection.

  20. Adam

Over two years and still nothing but good times with gamefly (ok a few rough spots) but in the main an awesome service whether I’m renting or buying discounted games from them. Gamers who report problems, I feel sorry for really. Like a kid who can’t have fun at the amusement park because his parents won’t let him have cotton candy. It’s inexplicable really, why everyone isn’t enjoying the benefits of such a great service, regardless if occasionally they don’t always get exactly everything they want.

Two things you have to keep in mind in reading these posts.

One, folks are more apt to complain loudly and praise in silence. Like kids at an amusement park. You might notice one crying, but know that for every one of those you’ve got 10 having the time of their lives. (You know something’s really good when a few people start stepping up and saying so.)

Two, from the Garden of Eden on down, most problems are caused by the user. Providers set up a great system and then users come in and figure out ways around the fun. Such as putting the game under the trolley instead of in the mail. Or having Gamefly email you that there’s a problem and then coming here instead of contacting them to figure out a solution. Or insisting on calling when email is clearly the best way to optimize the service and address any problems.

The service saves you money and increases the number of games you can play and enjoy without worrying about getting stuck with the duds. What’s to complain about?

  21. Donald

For starters, Adam - get off the company’s payroll if you’re going to post crap like this. I realize that your company provides mostly email support and you have more time than you know what to do with b/c you can copy and paste responses, but I don’t take kindly to someone trying to pose as a guy off the streets and make a statement like this. The least you could do is admit that you have some sort of vested interest in the company. If you’re not, then I’m surprised and your “rough spots” have been simply a delay in shipping, not an actual issue in shipping. Same goes for the other guys that have been defending gamefly.

Second, I do enjoy gamefly, and if you had read the blog entry you’d realize that he had good things to say about it. He was just incredibly frustrated at the fact that gamefly hadn’t recorded that the game was lost in the mail. I have had two games disappear in the mail on me and both times have been good experiences. I have let gamefly know and a couple of days later my other title shipped. I don’t know if they ever were actually recieved by gamefly but I know that I got my game.

The one thing that currently bothers me is the queue system. I have about 9 games on my queue at the start and probably 5 of them are low availability. I got notification of my two games being received on the same day and neither of my top two could ship apparently as i got the third on my list. No big deal. I understand this is how the queue works. However, only one title (the third) shipped. The next day (today) I look at my queue and they’ve shipped number 8 on my list. Now, not a big deal, however, number 3 (now that the old number three shipped) is a high availability and number 5 is listed as available now. I don’t usually do the whole get/beat/return scenario because I like to completely complete my games but recently I have been (added a second slot in my queue and my fiancee enjoys playing the wii so much that she wants games) and yet this is the second time I’ve returned both my games and ended up with things much further down my list - even below available games. Makes little to no sense to me. But I guess when I get my email response in 2-4 business days that is really what amounts to a copy/paste response I’ll find out their reasoning.

  22. Ryan

I’m gonna have to add myself to the list of supporters. I’ve been using gamefly for a year with out any problems, but I finally landed on a small problem, hehe. I mailed off two games at the same time, they both got to gamefly at the same time, and two games were shipped back at the same time, all in the span of wed to sat. only problem this time is I only got one of the games sent. so I figure they might just be a problem with shipping, what ever. but other than this incident, I’ve always had good service. you have a problem with shipping times? get over it, work around it. most people on here are saying they have a two game account. who the hell plays two games at the same time? play one and ship the other off so by the time you are finished with the one you are playing the next one is in line.. and I’m sorry, but you have to be really f-in stupid to send two games back in the same sleeve… thats just asking for problems… I had to do that once, but atleast I was smart enough to call them and tell them thats what happened, they made a note on my account and everything worked out just fine. in the end, use some commonsense and work with the system you are given. I personally don’t see anything wrong with being given access to almost any game you want to play for only $24 a month. especially with the fast exchange service that pops up every now and then

  23. Rick

i thought i was the only one in this sinking ship! same problems shipping. send the e-mail, asking why, if i live in FL, am i still getting shipped out of Cali! Penn seems closer to me. They say, “Geographically one center may be closer to your address, it does not always result in faster delivery times.” LOOK AT A MAP!!!!! HOW CAN IT NOT BE FASTER!!

    Thats for the rant

  24. Digs

If you are doing their free trial and have not received the game during that time. Give them a call and they’ll extend it to the day you received both games. Also, they’re e-mail customer service is really bad and I don’t even rent anything online. After this i’m going back to blockbuster..haha.

  25. Charmin

Wow, this sure does get a lot of attention for such an old blog. Guess I’m joining the herd. I’ve been using gamefly for over a year and I love them. I’ve played hundreds of games, bought a number of them for myself and others at cut rate prices and saved a fortune in the process. I really can’t see what the problem is. In the past shipping times were on the slower end but I get games in 2/3 days now and couldn’t be happier. Even when things were slower the savings were still huge renting vs. buying so it was hard to come up with any solid complaints. When I’ve experienced problems my dealings with customer service were fine and I’ve never waited beyond a week to resolve anything.

I totally agree with Adam’s comments and the guy below him just has some kind of bone to pick. The service is great. The keep it feature is awesome, the member points and discount coupons rock, the membership gift certificates are excellent gifts around the holidays, the selection of games across consoles is the best out there… shall I go on? Naw, probably not necessary. It’s obvious I’m a fan.

  26. sean

Game is is very, very bad! Please do your self a favor by not signing up. As of today, Im still waiting for a game that was sent on 12/07/2007 and today is 12/20/2007. I have sent emails every day after their so called 7 day wait period which is a load of crap. I live in California, the company is in California and according to the u.s postal service, in state mail should only take 3 days tops, if not sooner. I got one email response from the many emails ago I had sent and I have not heard from them since. All they said was they are investigating the matter and I should wait another 2 to 4 bussiness days to get this resolved. I’m also waiting for another game which was sent on 12/13/2007 and I still haven’t seen this game. From what I’m reading above, I think these guys are pulling a scam. They are not sending games in purpose so that you will have to wait longer and longer for games to arrive and by the time you receive it, you will have to renew the account just so you have enough time to play the dame game. I better not get charged for these games which I have never received because Im reporting them to the better bussiness bureau and take furthur action if my account is not resolved. Trust me guys, if you goto google and look under various forums for gamefly, many people had the same problems as me or worse. This company really really suck, and their customer service is virtually non existant. Look how they hide their phone number. The only way I found out their number was through this forum. I would give them a call but today is too late they are open only till 1:00pm?

  27. Seth

There are some rumors floating around about a new service, supposedly up in Q2 2008

    New Releases on Day one
Super fast turn around times using revolutionary system
and a bunch of other stuff…including great service (which i will have to experience to believe)

    How does that sound?

I think I will be switching as soon as it is out

  28. Christina

I bought my son a gamefly gift certificate for his birthday this past September and we’ve had great service. I found out about it through a family gaming blog and thought it sounded like a good way to save a few bucks. We’ve been using them for just shy of five months with no complaints. Games come fast. About 3 days though some have found us in 2 lately (we’re in New York). My son has a PSP and we bought a Wii for Xmas. He rents games for both and I was able to set up the account with parental controls so the mature themed games aren’t available to him (he’s 10). I can tell you it’s saved us a small fortune. I’ve got nothing but positive things to say about gamefly. Whatever growing pains they may have experienced have clearly been overcome. We haven’t encountered a single issue. It’s a fantastic service and my son (not to mention me and my husband) has had the chance to play all the hot new games without putting us in the poor house. As a parent I couldn’t be happier and recommend them to everyone I know with kids who play video games.

  29. Eric

I have actually sent games back that they recieved a week ago and they still haven;t shipped my new ones out. It feels great to pay services that they don’t provide me with.

  30. CVJ

I have been a member for about 6 months now, little glitches a couple of times but otherwise its pros greatly outnumber the cons. The keep it option is great, so for me its a nice way to try a game out and some games if I want to keep them I get them cheaper than buying them used at Gamestop.

  31. bovey

So far i have to say gamefly sux.

First Month was fine, which was december, since then Ive got 2 games. They sent me the wrong game in the sleeve of the game I was supposed to get, So they said theyd send the right one. Well they finall got the game back after 6 damn days, Then I get an email saying they shipped Heavenly Sword >.> WTF I already talked to them before hand saying they would take care of it and they didnt.

So at that rate It will have taken 24 days to actually get the right game. If I send back HS and get the MEtal Gear Solid Portable ops like i was supposed to.

Shipping is slow as hell, and did I mention that I have NEVER gotten anything on fast return making game turn around even slower, Its bs

  32. Rob

Been with Gamefly for about 6 months now and I love the service itself.. my only gripe is their website. I don’t know if it’s me or them but 90% of the time I’m fighting to get ANYTHING done on it, setting up my GameQ is a 2 hour process if I want to add or move anything around, and I’ve been trying to buy Mass Effect from their site for 3 days with no luck. Since I pay for the two-game service and I’m not ready to give up the second game, but want to keep the first, I’m kind of screwed.

It’s becoming so frustrating that I’m very close to leaving it altogether. What good is the service if I’m game-locked because I’m unable to free up my Mass Effect slot?

  33. alfredo

ok i joined two days ago i had a $25 american express gift card so i put that in for my credit card info so my question is if i do not return the games by the end of my free trial will they charge me for another month, what would happen if i dont return the games at the end of that month will i just keep the games or what cause they will not be able to charge the gift card anymore

  34. Michael

So here’s the thing. The game queue is meant to be played with a bit. We all know games vary in availability so all you need to be sure to do is keep your game queue relatively small and only fill it with your most desired games. You can manipulate it as often as you like. If there are new releases coming up that you want, get them in your game queue and empty out the rest. I generally have about five games max in my game queue and they’re all games I really want. Guess what? I always get what I want to play. They now have 3 distribution centers and there are rumors of a fourth coming later in the year. You can’t grow like that and not be doing something right. I’ve played hundreds of games for pennies compared to what I’d spending buying new games. This service is a no brainer for anyone who’s serious about gaming and doesn’t want to go bankrupt in the process. Oh, and fast return depends on your post office. If your post office doesn’t scan in the mail then gamefly won’t get notified you’ve returned your game. If it does, they get notified it’s in the mail back to them and then send your next one. Check with your post office and find out if they scan in the mail. If they don’t then mail your games back from a different location and/or post office that does.

Myself, the wife and kids always rent games from the local video store. It was recommended by my brother-in-law to checkout Gamefly.com and use the services they provide. The monthly fee was good, the time you keep the games is good, etc.

    Hey, It’s me again!

If you dislike Gamefly, then I have wonderful news for all of you!!!
The Company I mentioned above IS indeed launching THIS SUMMER.

It’s called VoxDisc, and it’s really different. I caught a glimpse of their site, and it is REALLY easy to navigate. I couldn’t believe it. Their support, which I was told by voxdisc via email, is much better than that of gamefly. They will be running a near 24/7 operation of customer service. The footer states they process ALL orders at 2AM, allowing them to be shipped the same day. Sounds good to me….

Not only that, but they carry Bluray movies and some DVDs! This just adds to the features allowing me to cancel my netflix subscription, and consolidate everything to one payment.

I suggest you all check them out. There is only a “countdown” on the official website (www.voxdisc.com), but after a little looking around, I see there is a beta site! It is ” http://www.beta.voxdisc.com

    Thanks,

    Seth

I went to the GameFly website today to create an account for my daughter. 90% of the site’s graphics don’t work, but I find the sign-up link. Beautiful, easy process. I give them my card information in a simple, well organized page.

Next, I try to order the game. Can’t! The no-show images and the lack of a text link completley stymie me. Like many above, I too am spoiled by netflix. So, I confidently click the customer service link to get the phone number. NOT!

Google search brings me here; I read all the other people’s experiences which renews my resolve to cancel if I don’t hear from them today. 24 to 48 hours is too long to respond to a customer concern.

  38. Kristopher

lets just say that i’m very spoiled by Netflix due to being about a 1 hour drive away from the nearest netflix shipping center, When I drop my netflix in the mail they sometimes get it the same day and definately get it the next day. So I AM SPOILED by netflix. I will compare my experiences with Gameznflix and Gamefly.

My first month with GamezFlix was GREAT with shipping times of 2 days each direction and my next games being sent the same day they got my games back (i’m in the same state as a shipping center) then my 2nd month was weird. it started taking 5 days to ship each direction and they would sit efor 3 days after gettimg the game back before shipping my stuff.. I kept a huge queue of games with high availabilities so it was inexcusable to the point where i canceled.

The one jewel of info that GameznFlix customer support let slip to me was that they if my nearest shiping center does not have my Queue items in stock they will ship from a different location and that causes the delay in shipping times.

I suddenly had the odd theory that Gameznflix ships fast for new customers so that they sign for a 2nd month then start using the established customers as pack mules to redistribute games out to each shipping center… rather than just shipping out a huge crate of games to supply a shipping center they will ship the game from a long distance to the customer and just set the return label to take it to the shipping center thats running low on that game.

I moved on to try GAMEFLY because of the dozens of people that said it was the best. my first set of games arrived in 3 days, i kept them a week and mailed them back…. they arrived back to gamefly on friday the 29th of february. i’m sitting here on webnesday the fifth and gamefly has yet to ship me anything…. i have 16 games in my queue over half are available now or high availibility.. i’m going to call customer support and try to find out whats happening… they certainly charged my membership fee just fine last week but now they are not shipping me anything… I plan to demand that they adjust my billing date so that i’m not paying for 4 days of them sitting around not shipping costing me nearly $1 a day of memberhsip fee with no benefit for me..

  39. slimgoody

i just signed up with them, there free- trial. yeah right! i started reading more & more about them, now i want out. can anyone help ?

  40. Mike

Gamefly is a joke. For starters everyone is right in saying the game turn is very slow. I made the mistake in returning a game before a holiday weekend and I didn’t get any game for almost a week and 1/2. The gameQ thing they make you use to rent games is useless. It’s 50/50 in getting the top game on your list even when they have 100% in stock! I don’t know the criteria of how they choose games, but I almost never get what I want. It’s either my 3rd or 4th choice. The web interface on the website sucks, their support sucks and overall I think the website/service needs a major change. If they are going to be the leader in this industry they need some help!! My advice…go with gameznflix..better turn around and less stressful than gamefly.

  41. PCook

Are you kidding me? Gameznflix over Gamefly? Gameznflix is virtually out of business as far as anyone can tell. To suggest you get better turn around with Gameznflix is crazy talk.

The Gamefly web interface sucks? Dude, what are you smoking? Have you even used the site or compared it to their competitors? Their web interface is not only top-notch but it blows the competition out of the water on features and functionality. Gamefly doesn’t need any help being the leader in the industry because they already are. You don’t get to the top of the heap if you’re not doing something right.

I read this negative stuff about Gamefly and all I can think is that people don’t know how to actually use the service. I’ve had my Gamefly account for over a year now and it works great. No complaints whatsoever. I’m playing tons of games for pennies on the dollar. I fail to see how that can be anything but positive.

  42. tbone

Gameznflix sucks frigging cat do do man. The ceo is a con man.

  43. gers

Does anyone know anything about mygamexpress.com ?

  44. Andrew

  45. gers

Andrew, I had a similiar problem with gamefly. My friend recommend me MYGamexpress. Now, I am trying them. I have been with them for 10 days and so far I have not had a problem. I hope to continue like this. I will let you guys now if I come accross with the any problem.

  46. Fernado

Andrew Try Gamexpress Very good selection and cheaper the gamefly. i have no problem so far..

  47. Nydia

Okay, first off all, Gamexpress doesn’t rent games. They sell them. They’re not even in the same category. We’re talking about Gamefly who rents games and, in my opinion, is the only option out there for RENTALS. They’re awesome and I’ve been using them for months now. I’d recommend them to anyone. This blog and its comments are clearly way out of date because Gamefly freakin rules. I haven’t even had to pay for my Gamefly account for the last two months thanks to their trade-in program. I sent in a bunch of junk I don’t play anymore and got credit for it toward my account cost. Hello? Gaming for “free” anyone? Gamefly rocks, you people are way out of touch.

  48. Jorell

i just started gamefly today and i have a few games on my GameQ. I DIDN’T EVEN GET THE GAME THE FIRST 2 HOURS!!! WHERE”S MY GAME????? haha just kidding. i hope gamefly’s service is good!

  49. Betty4VA

Never trust anyone who writes in all caps and feels it’s necessary to use excessive punctuation. Seriously, where did you learn to write? So annoying. Even if you had something valuable to say I’d ignore it because your writing style looks so stupid.

Anyway, I’ve had gamefly for about six months and they’ve been great.

    - GTA4 shipped day of release
    - Bioshock shipped day of release
    - Ninja Gaiden 2 shipped day of release

  50. Arthur

I think Gamefly’s pretty good. I heard things were slow when they first got started but I use them and don’t have any problems. I don’t know what all this spam crap is about. Can’t someone say something positive about their experience without being accused of spamming? I’m not sure what your agenda is but geez man, chill out already. Gamefly’s been good to me and I think their service is good. Sorry if that makes you angry dude but I doubt Gamefly is losing any sleep over losing your account.

  51. caren

okay, so your saying that I should be patient with them ?

We rented our first game, and no problem we recieved it in 2 days after we sighned up. We sent it back and they recived it in 3 days……That was 2 weeks ago, and we still havent recieved another game. They said they sent it out 11 days ago, but we still havent recieved it. I emailed them and they said they will reply in 24-48 hours.
So, I called and it was a recording…. they wont be open for the next two days.

So seeing I am trying to become a “Glass half full” type person, I will wait this out, and keep you posted on what happens.

  52. Josh

Similar thing happened to me Caren when I signed up (2 years ago.) But since then it’s been pretty smooth. If a game doesn’t show up within a few days of shipping, I’d alert them, since games do going missing from time to time. It does take a day or so for them to respond but they always have responded and solved the issue with me.

The occasional missing or scratched game, is one of the drawbacks of the online rental services (happens with my Netflix account as well), but the perks are so great, it hasn’t deterred me from staying with them at all. Renting is far more economical than buying, Gamefly selection of games is amazing, you can play whatever you want without having to worry about buying a dud, and if you do want to buy you can from them for considerably less than retail.

As someone else mentioned you can also trade games in the subscription credit which is pretty neat and a bonus for signing up if you have a library of games you never play.

  53. Dennis

    Caren Try
mygamexpress.com Very good selection and same day shipping.

  54. James

Trying to call the number listed here. They will not answer my call even during working hours!!! I mistakenly send back my copy of Ninja Gaiden II and I want it back!!! >:(

  55. Tony

They send everything Bulk so it takes 2 to 7 days to get from Tampa, Florida to Tallahassee, Florida. Then when they send them out from Pittsburgh or somewhere else, it takes even longer. Complete waste of money. You might as well go rent a game at the video store or buy it cheap at the pawn shop. Thanks for listing the phone number, they don’t give it on the website because they want you to wait even more days for games.

  56. abba

gamefly sucks terribly. I’ve been a longtime member. I tried to cancel my acct and send the games back like I’m supposed to. I cancelled 7/10/08 and sent the game the 12. Gamefly claims they didn’t receive tracking until the 23 but they still proceeded to charge me for the games bc according the manager. They didn’t know what I sent and therefore charged me anyway and overdraft my acct and they charged me separately and they will not refund my overdraft although she agreed that their mailing service sucks and then repeatedly said that she was just agreeing and that not what she thinks. (read again I know it’s crazy). And that’s their manager so u can imagine what kind of idiots they have up there.

  57. David

Gamefly has been perfect for me, no complaints here. . I signed up a few months ago when they opened a new ship center in florida. They are the biggest company doing online game rentals, and the most reputable.
I got my first game 2 day after I singed up and they’ve been consistently taking only 2 days to arrive. We rent for our Wii and Xbox360. They have every game and great option like being able to buy games too. You can track game shipments in you queu or in account>history pages. I’ve played about 9 games in about 3 months, way more than i would have without GF.
Don’t see how anyone could claim it’s a waste of money because it’s so much better than renting anywhere else, and way better than buying $60 games without trying them first.
Anyway, so like I said I’ve had no issues whatsoever, start with the trial, like i did, and you’ll soon see how worthwhile it is.

  58. Hope Hey

I was with gamefly off and on. At first it was quick and easy then the games took longer and longer to reach the warehouse or me. Finally I stopped paying them. I got an email stating that I need to send my game back or they were going to sent in to a Credit Collection Acc., so I returned the game the next day. And I haven’t thought about it since. That was in May of 2008. Well I recieved my credit report and gamefly sent it against my credit anyway. So thanks to them I now have poor credit. I called them and they told me that they sent an email to the creditor to remove it when they recieved the game and to call the creditor and get everything settled. This is alot of headache. So I will no longer use gamefly EVER!

  59. anoumynous

I turned in oblivion to them. I wait a month no game yet…finnaly my mom gets around to checking her 233 messages and they say i have sent them the wrong game…I sware on my life i sent the correct game. So we email them back and say i sent mlb ‘08 or something which i have never had. We send back we have sent the correct game and that we do not own mlb ‘08. They then email us back and say oh sorry about the inconvienence we have added 5 gamelfy dollars to your account…they never took oblivion off of my game Q so we decided to cancel gamefly again(we had previously had gamefly and had no problems just had to get rid of because grades)and my mom receives another email saying they have not yet received oblivion..after we said liek 5 times we didn’t have it and they confirmed we didn’t…so imma have my mom call them this weekend hopfully this clears this up.

gamefly suckes never using again….till the next time

netflix rocks and i agree if netflix would buy out gamefly it would be much better off.

    mygamexpress.com is a scam mygamexpress.com is a scam mygamexpress.com is a scammygamexpress.com is a scam mygamexpress.com is a scam mygamexpress.com is a scam

mygamexpress.com is a scam, disguised as a videogame delivery service. first of all they dont send the games you want and it takes forever to get any game at all. they dont respond to complaints and never answer the phone.

now for the good stuff. when i tried to cancel my account they said i didnt return my game (which i did) and kept charging my credit card. after days of trying to get ahold of them i finaly got a real person on the phone who said i should file a missing game report and they will take the charges off. so i did. but again…. the card gets charged. so back on the phone i go…and finaly get ahold of the same woman, who says i didnt return a game so i should file a missing game report. i tell her “i already did that” “with you on the phone with me”. the vicious cycle begins. in short i’ve been charged over $100 for a $50 video game i returned, and NOW…..they are trying to sue me for $65 with some scam law firm (ficka & associates, do a google serch on them) and mygamexpress.com is still charging my card. good grief!

  61. jason

i just try mygamexpress and its been a week and no games .they dont answer emails or phone.did i get riped off?

  62. Seth

    Watch Out!!!

If you are in the Midwest USA, VoxDisc is surely something to watch out for.

    http://www.voxdisc.com

It seems they are catering mainly to the midwest market, but I’m sure they would go nationwide. Shipping will just be faster closer to the distribution center, but that’s common sense.

It seems they are trying to solve some problems, but I really don’t know what they are exactly up to. Their website changed DRAMATICALLY over the past 2 months. I’ve been watching them for about 8 months now.

I’ll probably be signing up for it!

But I’ll still be keeping my eye on them as well :D

  63. jason

mygamexpres is lame !! still no games. support is always offline wont anwser the phone.is there anything i can do? report them to police or something ?

  64. Jay

Gamefly offered me a 3 game plan and then the next day i check my e-mail and it says that i ordered it. No way, for an extra 25 cents a day. That 29 dollers a day.

  65. Matt

I’ve had Netflix for awhile now and I do love it. I was thinking about getting Gamefly but the majority of you seem to have problems with it, and if it’s not as speedy and efficient as Netflix it seems like a slight waste of time.
I was wondering do any of you live in or around the Pennsylvania area? I know there is a Gamefly warehouse in Pittsburgh, so I dunno if since I live in Pennsylvania it will ship my games faster or if it’s still pointless to even try?
Also, why hasn’t Blockbuster attempted a game rental mailing service similar to their Blockbuster online? Unless they have that already. I think that could possibly be decent, I mean I’ve never had Blockbuster online but I’ve heard it was decent. It could work out well for them, with in store trade ins and what not and possibly bundling it with their DVD rentals…I’d still never give up Netflix, as most of you said they spoil us all. They gave me 15% off my bill one month because a DVD came 2 days late, which was pretty awesome. Hell, Netflix should rent out games, that would be amazing and they’d kill Gamefly.

  66. Tiffany

WOW Gamefly Sucks!!!!! I am on day 8 of a 10 day trial and still no games!!! I called and the woman was stupid she said “Yeah it takes that long” NOW THATS JUST A DUMB ANSWER! I hate gamefly. And it cost too much!

  67. dan

I have recently subscribed to Gamefly, after debating what would be the cheapest way to buy a game without paying thousand’s of dollars a year. It is cheaper than buying four new games a year if you only hold one game at a time. Also u can buy used games at video game stores like game stop and you can return them before 17 days and get ur money back. It was just a hassle to drive all they way to the store seeing how I am very far from a nearby game stop, gas is waisted and having to hurry to beat the game while working a full time job, and supporting a family. Gamefly is the best way to be a gamer in my eyes, so what if u wait a week for a game, maybe somepeople could do some crunches while they wait…just a suggestion angry gamefly guy who had his game lost by the mail.

  68. luis

gamefly is okay i live in tampa bay florida and get my games fast they do fuck up from time to time but when you call them they are pretty good at getting the games to you anyhoo i only been with them only for a month so time will tell if they fuck up!!!
