Hrm.

JR is the man.  He found this interesting factoid...

It looks like you can access your Yahoo! Mail via IMAP.  Well, the thing says "Yahoo! Mobile", but uh, I think Thunderbird will work too.

Give it a whirl.

Well, it works with Thunderbird, though. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem possible to encrypt the password. And the server lacks a lot of interesting extensions. But it's a really great step from Yahoo!.

Hopefully, they'll implement the Lemonade IMAP extensions optimized for mobile environements http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/lemonade-charter.html

Yea, it's an awesome step in the right direction. POP mail access is very 90s and IMAP + webmail is the future. I want my mail in a central location and I want to access it with a client of my choice.

I tried on a treo, thunderbird, outlook and couldnt get it working. Are there specific settings you have to do to get imap from yahoo?
