Eileen and I were driving in San Jose and caught this company slogan on the side of a van. It read, “Always remember you are unique…Just like everyone else.” Maybe it is just me, but I think the slogan would have worked a lot better without the second part. It seems wrong that you can be unique when you are “just like everyone else”. Heh.

I believe the term you’re looking for is “clueless” or possibly “sarcasm challenged”.
I’m sure that if you asked the person, they’d give you a happy, smiley statement about how everyone is uniquely gifted and a treasure. Possibly rainbows and unicorns will manifest themselves around her. One never knows.
The fact that the statement was borne of the soul crushing realization that your futile efforts of nonconformity are in fact, subject to the same sorts of conformity you were striving against, simply would not register.
No, it’s better to simply smile, wave and remind these people that the best part of meeting strangers is that they have no idea what you’ve done in the past.
