Fedora Core 6 running on my Compaq Evo N600c.

VMware Server doesn’t seem to want to run on Fedora Core 6 without some massaging.  Here’s what I did to get it working:

Install the rpm for VMware Server from the provided rpm.
Get the source patch for VMware Server from here.  (Filename will be vmware-any-any-updateXXX.tar.gz).
Run the runme.pl from the above file.
Run vmware-config.pl
Edit /usr/share/applications/vmware-server.desktop and change [...]
