I was just thinking about the whole humongous price drop for the iPhone. Apple made a big mistake doing that so early and making the rebate so large. Mostly, it was a huge mistake because they blatantly screamed in the face of early adopters: Ha! You’ve been taken! (Then adding a slap in the face for extra umph). Trying to make it up with a $100 Apple Store credit is not enough.
Just think about it. The iPhone has been out for 66 days. A $200 drop in price means that it has dropped $3.03 per day that it was out on the market. Wow! Given that, if I wait another 131 days, Apple should be handing me a free 8GB iPhone. I’m waiting Steve Jobs.
By the way, the whole Starbucks deal really goes to smack Apple’s mobile partner in the face. How? Starbucks offers Wifi, yes. It offers Wifi from T-Mobile. Yikes. AT&T also offers Wifi, but not in Starbucks — AT&T offers Wifi in McDonalds. Apple couldn’t possibly tarnish its image by offering free Wifi at a McDonalds! No way. Has to be Starbucks, so phooey to AT&T!

Also remember that Starbuck does not offer WiFi themselves, it is provided by T-Mobile (the other GSM provider)…
and when it comes to WiFi hot spots, T-Mobile seems to have a broader distribution of service compared to AT&T…
Me , I am still waiting for OS X 10.5 before I get an iPhone since I want to really wait to see about better VPN so I can do some work related stuff.

With the upcoming competition for iPhone-like phones, Apple might drop the price again. Let’s hope so
