iPhone vs iPod touch

Rebel!

Over the weekend, our Canon Digital Rebel (EOS 300D) broke — a CF pin broke. It would cost somewhere in the range of $200 to get it fixed. So, I got to order a new Canon Digital Rebel XTi (EOS 400D), yay! The camera arrived yesterday (free two-day shipping from Amazon) and [...]

Over the weekend, our Canon Digital Rebel (EOS 300D) broke — a CF pin broke. It would cost somewhere in the range of $200 to get it fixed. So, I got to order a new Canon Digital Rebel XTi (EOS 400D), yay! The camera arrived yesterday (free two-day shipping from Amazon) and the camera is great. I ran a few pictures through the camera already and it works great. The camera body of the 400D is a bit smaller than the 300D and I need to get used to that since I have big hands. The shutter sound is also different. I ordered just the 400D body (and not the kit since I already have a 18-55mm lens from the 300D kit) in black. I always thought the 300D would look so much more professional in black. The new system for shooting is neat, instead of an old style small LCD screen to show information, all information is now displayed on the main LCD — which is nice because the information is much clearer. I also like the self-cleaning CMOS sensor feature, that’s kind of a neat idea — though, I think Olympus did something like this with their SLR a while back. More on the Canon Digital Rebel XTi soon!

W810i Fired Up

My parents gave me some cash for Christmas so that I could go get something that I really wanted. What I really wanted, now that Jacob has arrived, was a cameraphone with a good camera in it. With that I could take snaps of Jacob that are print-quality without having to carry around a second digital device. What I found — mostly reading reviews and using the Camera Finder at Flickr — was that the SonyEricsson W810i is a damned good choice. I had my Motorola SLVR L7 on the plate to be sold on Ebay and I finally got to it last night. The SLVR sold this morning (Buy It Now) and I took the extra money and went to the SonyStyle store at Valley Fair.

I picked up a brand new SonyEricsson W810i, unlocked and unbranded, from the SonyStyle store this afternoon. I have finally got the phone configured to my likings and am still exploring the options. The camera takes good low-light pictures, but I am really waiting until tomorrow to try it outside. The screen is brilliant and very viewable. The W810i also comes with music playing abilities and I will explore those later. What I found really interesting was the box for the W810i. It looks like Sony has taken a page out of Apple’s book when it comes to boxing a product. Opening the W810i was almost as nice an experience as when I opened my first iPod box. See unboxing pictures here.

Thanks mom and dad for such a great gift!

The Travelocity Gnome (you know, you’ve seen him on TV) visited Yahoo! yesterday. I got to take this cool picture with him and got a cookie to boot!  Oh, and if you think that’s a fancy digital Polaroid frame around a digital picture…You’re wrong!  They were snapping pictures using Polaroid cameras.  Heh.

Back from Paris!

Back from Paris.  It was a wonderful trip.  Let me gather up my thoughts for a better posting.  Until then, enjoy these pictures that I just posted to Flickr.
