Soapbox

It’s nice that Mastodon is getting all this new attention because of the upheaval and chaos at Twitter. But, there’s more than just Mastodon on the Fedivesrse.

I wanted to setup a single-user instance on the Fediverse, but did not want to deal with the Mastodon install process (which I’ve done a few times before). I found Soapbox with Rebased as the back-end and tried that out. Rebased is a fork of Pleroma and supports the Mastodon API, so any client, like the excellent iOS client MetaText will work with it perfectly.

The setup was super simple, it runs well on a low resource machine and the UI is fantastic.

Thanks to Alex Gleason for making Soapbox.
