My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

Was a sequel to My Big Fat Greek Wedding needed? Not really. I loved the first film, but after the movie was over, there was no feeling that it should continue. But, now that there is a sequel and I have watched it, was it worth watching? Yes.

I was trying to figure out how to describe My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. I came up with a few words: Sweet, endearing, funny and harmless. The movie has three distinct storylines that deal with three generations of the family. Toula’s parents deal with a wedding (that’s as much as I can say without spoiling things); Toula deals with the lack of romance between her and her husband; and Toula’s daughter deals with all the crazy “Greekness” that surrounds her.

The best lines and moments are not Toula’s in this movie. The majority of the laughs, lines and moments are given to Andrea Martin as Toula’s Aunt Voula. The movie is most alive when she is onscreen.

For the most part the movie was enjoyable to watch and it had some very funny laugh out loud moments. But, when the credits start to roll, the movie is quickly forgotten about. That’s not a bad thing as it is entertaining for its running time and does not overstay its welcome. If you liked the first one, this one is worth a viewing.
