What's Past is Prologue (DIS S01E13)

December 7, 2018

Lorca moves to take over the empire while Georgiou works with Burnham to prevent that from happening. Burhman works to protect the crew of the Discovery. Stamets and the crew figure out a way to get back to their own time.

Notes

I knew that Georgiou would end up back in the "normal" universe at some point because that is the type of twist that I have come to expect from Discovery. As much as I like Michelle Yeoh, I think it would have been better to let that character die in a blaze of glory at the end of the episode. Yeoh shows she still has the chops and was kicking some serious ass in the episode.

I am a little saddened to see Lorca go. As much as he was a villain after the twist, I think had they taken some of the sheen of evil off him, he would have made a very interesting Star Trek captain.

Saru finally gets his command of a starship as he had wanted early in the series. I am happy to see him in command, I wonder how he is going to do.

I thought one of the rules that they had set in one of the episodes was that there was no time travel in the mycelial network. To have the ship end up nine months in the future is a nice twist and moves the story along, but I felt a little cheated.

Also, the twist from the last episode, while I wrote that it was earned, after some sleep and thought, it is a bit hard to swallow. There were too many coincidences that needed to happen in order for Lorca to return to his universe and be able to get onto the command ship of Georgiou.
