Will You Take My Hand? (DIS S01E15)

December 9, 2018

The crew of the Discovery, led by Georgiou execute their final plan to end the war with the Klingons.

Notes

This season was enjoyable and this final episode of the season makes it clear that the season was the journey of redemption for Michael Burnham. I commend the writers for putting together a season that was able to take the audience along on this journey, even if there were some rough spots along the way.

And while I questioned the show runners and writers embrace of the ideals of Star Fleet throughout the show, by the end of this episode and the season, it is very clear that they know what it is and understand it well.

The episode was well-done, though the heavy-handed speeches that bookend the episode could have been trimmed or even removed -- and the episode would have had the same resonance.

Michelle Yeoh was clearly having a lot of fun playing evil Georgiou, I know I had fun watching her chew through each scene.

The introduction of NCC-1701 and Captain Pike at the end of the episode is a nice nod and connection to TOS -- and a firm reminder that we are watching a Prime Star Trek series and that this series does not live in the Kelvin Star Trek timeline.

I look forward to what happens in the next season. I wouldn't say that this season was excellent, but it was enjoyable.
