Two-part pilot that introduces us to the new crew of the NX-01 Enterprise, the first Earth ship to be able to reach Warp 5. There is a Klingon that opens the episode and the pilot revolves around the crew getting him back home. This episode introduces us to the Suliban.
The first time I saw this episode, I did not notice Phlox or T'Pol in the openning scene with the Klingon.
The special effects hold up well after 15 years. There are some that look hokey, like the Suliban changing shapes and morphing. But, the ships, especially the Enterprise, look fantastic.
I am not sure why, but the Vulcans on this show are jerks.
I like how the NX-01 Enterprise feels more like a nuclear submarine than a luxury cruise ship. The grays and drab colors are quiet different than the Ikea-decorated sets of the Kelvin timeline Enterprise.
Hoshi is very annoying.
The Samsung BD-J7500 had some issues playing this episode I had to watch it on the PS4. I hope this is not going to be an issue going forward with this collection.
