The Andorian Incident (ENT S01E07)

January 15, 2017

Archer decides that he, T'Pol and Trip should make a stop at an ancient Vulcan monetary that is a few light years off their current course. When they arrive, they arrive in the middle of a hostage situation. The Andorians are holding the Vulcan monks hostage because they believe that the monastery is a secret listening post monitoring Andorian space.

"Seek infinite diversity."

The rifles of the Andorians are hilariously fake, like they were made of a single piece of plastic.

There is a return of the smell of humans in this episode. T'Pol mentions getting a nasal numbing agent to help her live amongst humans. And later she mentions that she hasn't had her nasal numbing agent recently and she is starting to smell Archer.

Vulcans are shown as liars and very deceptive. These Vulcans seem very different than the ones that I am used to from the movies. I can see why this episode has made so many Star Trek fans angry. But, I can also see that this episode happens 115 years before The Original Series, so the Vulcans could have had plenty of time to change between Enterprise and The Original Series.

Reed makes comments that different things, like scanning planets for alien ships, should be added to their Standard Operating Procedures. This furthers the idea that the crew of the Enterprise, including its captain, are just winging it in space.

The third time the transporter is used on humans.
