This episode feels like a variation of the previous episode, a human developing God-like powers. The moral dilemma of what to do with this human is explored again. There is the twist that the person, Gary Mitchell is a longtime friend of Kirks.
Mitchell and the yeoman holding hands while entering the force field was just bizarre.
