The crew beam planet-side based on a distress call. They meet two aliens (Kelvins) who demand that Kirk surrender the Enterprise. They promptly freeze the crew that is planet-side. The take over of the Enterprise was already happening.
The aliens are from Andromeda. They want to modify the Enterprise to make a return journey to Andromeda. It'll take 300 years to make the trip if they can get the Enterprise.
The alien proclaimed red shirts to be useless.
