The Enterprise is sent to meet a species named the Melkotians. They are met by a Melkotian buoy that warns them to turn around and leave using telepathy. Kirk and crew go around the buoy and beam down to the planet.
Kirk, Sock, McCoy, Chekov and Scotty are punished. They are "transported" to an incomplete Western town with six-shooters.

Literally, Kirk is a cowboy.
"Half a gallon of Scotch." Scotty. Lol.
I am not sure if it was intentional or not, but the stiff acting for the Earps was totally overdone -- robotic and overacted and quite annoying.
The mind tricks, very Matrix.
This was an OK episode. It kept me interested even though I figured out that it was a test of Kirk from the beginning.
