The Enterprise crew beams down to a planet to investigate the disappearance of a human colony of 100 people. During this, a Klingon ship appears and has explosions onboard, but The Enterprise hasn't fired on it. The crew of that Klingon ship beam down to the planet and take Kirk, McCoy, Chekov and a Red Shirt hostage -- they are blaming The Enterprise for the destruction of the Klingon ship. All the while, there is a strange glowing thing floating around observing.
Klingon named Kang.
Klingons killed Chekov's brother Peter in the past.
There is a special procedure for the transporter that traps things in process -- literally keeping people (or Klingons in a state of suspension).
Apparently Chekov has gone nuts, he has not brother.
An alien that lives off the violent and hateful feelings of others.

There was a good story buried in here somewhere. Not a bad episode.
