For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky (TOS S03E08)

March 17, 2018

The Enterprise encounters a batch of what looks like nuclear missiles aimed at them. McCoy discovers that he is terminally ill and has only a year to live.

Notes

The origin of the missiles is an spaceship that is made to look like an asteroid. There are people on the spaceship who don't know that they are on a spaceship, they think they are on a world.

The asteroid ship seems to be on a crash course with a large populated planet.

The story reminds me of The Orville's fourth episode (one of the better ones of that shows first season) "If the Stars Should Appear". I am guessing since MacFarlane is a Star Trek fan, he borrowed from this episode.

McCoy gets his own romantic episode.

The book looks like a phonebook with a leather hardcover.

Why would a civilization create a ship and then hide the control room from the population?

Deus Ex Machina, the cure for McCoy was in the knowledge banks of the Fabrini ship.
