The Enterprise has been ordered to evacuate a research facility that was setup to observer a star going supernova. The research facility is empty. They are beamed beneath the surface and meet a mute woman.

I love how Spock works on the alien pistol with it pointed directly at his own face.
Why did the aliens leave their weapon thing with Spock considering they were taking McCoy away and Spock and Kirk were knocked out? Interesting, Kirk asked this right after I typed this.
