That Which Survives (TOS S03E17)

May 30, 2018

"A Ghost Planet?" A planet the size of the moon, but with the mass and atmosphere of Earth. The planet is so young that vegetation could not have evolved in that period of time. Kirk leads a landing party to see what's going on.

On their way down, a woman appears and tells Kirk and team that they must not go. The Enterprise and the planet are rocked by what looks like an earthquake just as Kirk and team land, then the Enterprise sees that the planet is gone.

Notes

Spock's lack of humor is humorous.

A non-Red Shirt bites the dusty on this away mission.

Igneous rock. Impressive science.

Kirk is immune? Another Kirk episode?

Spock's precision calculations are annoying and grates on my nerves. I am glad he's not like that in the TOS movies. Spock was quite grating in this episode.

Really the episodes derives its tension from a game of... tag?

The ending was quite abrupt and not very satisfying.

Another "meh" episode. There's a lot of it that just feels like earlier episodes.
