The Enterprise is orbiting a planet that is covered in lava. Nobody is replaying to hails, but Spock has detected signs of life -- such as power. On their way out of orbit, The Enterprise gets scanned. Abraham Lincoln appears to be the probe, he is flying outside the ship.

Lincoln arrives and Kirk puts up a great show for The President.
The premise of this episode is so silly, it's interesting.
A rock wakes up and starts talking with Kirk and Spock after Surak shows up. Ghengis Khan and other people show up.
The rock challenges Spock and Kirk to fight. After an interesting start, this episode has returned to something familiar. This base of this episode feels like The Gamesters of Triskelion.
The low-thrills action in this episode are grown men (and woman) throwing rocks and sticks at each other.
Interesting opening premise. Wasted middle and end sections of the episode.
