Big Brother Is Watching

july 10, 2001

Big Brother maybe watching, well, at least your boss maybe watching where you're surfing to on the Web and what you're writing in your email. A study by the Workplace Surveillance Project of the Privacy Foundation, a research group based at the University of Denver, shows that about a third of Americans have their online activities monitored in the workplace. It also shows that it costs employer a mere $5.25 per year to monitor a single employee. Article. Is it worth it for the employer? Will this keep employees inline? And will it increase productivity because the employees know that potentially their online activities could be watched? When are employers going to install cameras in our cubes? :) Or start taping our phone conversations? :)
