Linux Eats At Microsoft Market

january 24, 2003

Looks like Microsoft is finally admitting that Linux is a competitor. Well, duh. Here is an interesting article in the New York Times that talks about how Microsoft is finally "acknowledging that Linux has become a fixture on the competitive landscape". It's true that, like the article mentions, Linux is really a bigger competitor in the commercial Unix market. But, it's also good to think that Linux is now eating away at Microsoft's market enough for them to finally admit that Linux is a competitor and not just that evil other OS.
