Cingular + AT&T Wireless > Verizon

february 18, 2004

The bidding has finished and Cingular has beat out Vodafone for the purchase of AT&T Wireless. I think Vodafone did the right thing because AT&T Wireless is definitely not worth the $41 billion that Cingular has offered up. We'll have to sit tight and see what comes of this merger that will create a mobile phone company larger than the current Verizon (to which Vodaphone owns a large chunk of). This also means that there will only be two GSM players in the US market: Cingular/AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile. I hope T-Mobile survives because they are a great company to be with and I don't want to go Cingular.
