I am going to stop using Abiword for the time being. When I started writing my paper for class tonight, I experienced the same trying-to-catch-up-to-your-typing performance from Abiword as I did from Microsoft Word X. I was a bit disappointed in this since the application looked so promising. I guess it's back to using Nisus Writer Express. I know that the .doc formatting is not right in NWE, but it still seems to trick Word into opening them.
