Ask.com Going It Alone

august 1, 2005

Ask.com is planning on doing their own advertising network to compete with Yahoo! and Google. It is interesting to see the number five seach engine going it alone on the whole contexual advertisment business -- what is more interesting to see is how they are dumping Google's advertising system for their own. The contract between Ask and Google expires in 2007 and accounts for 5.6% of Google's first-quarter revenue. First Yahoo! dumps Google and now Ask dumps Google. Google better find some other avenues of revenue since they can't rely on just their advertisements for everything, right?
