The “SOL” in MSOL would stand for something considerably different than they’d think.
The news on the internet is the possible partnering of MSN and AOL. Should Yahoo! or Google be worried? A little bit. It's not because all of the sudden a MSN/AOL portal will capture lots of web portal hits. It is because AOL still uses Google search, and if MSN picks up AOL, then for sure AOL will switch to MSN search. That would be instant revenue loss for Google. Also, since MSN is building their own in-house paid search advertising, they would most likely switch themselves and AOL over to it -- and away from using Yahoo! Search Marketing. Update: There are some who think that AOL + MSN could top Yahoo! in unique monthly users and page views.
