Hack The World! --- Err, Maybe Just The PSP FIrmware 2.0...

september 23, 2005

Hack the world PSP Firmware 2.0. For all of you holding onto your PSPs with 1.50 firmware, here is an interesting development. Looks like the new PSP 2.0 firmware can be hacked with a buffer overflow -- a large enough picture file will cause the buffer overflow, and code can be included in the picture to be executed. Now that is pretty cool and Sony has been OWn3d! I wish Sony would just open up the platform for people to do their stuff on, it'll sell a gazillion PSPs -- at least to hackers around the world. Open is better, and so far Sony has not learned that yet (evidence: ATRAC3pro, MD, etc).
