Hehe, Google Is Crazy...

december 28, 2005

JR pointed me to this article which gives a clue to a lame idea Google has for their "personalized homepage" (ahem, boys and girls, that is called a PORTAL). A Google spokesperson says, "banners on the Google home page (as presented to users not signed in) were out of the question." That's great news! But, "the personalized home page is another story entirely, and that targeted ads (text and banner, presumably), are not out of the question there." Whoa! What? So, if one goes to Google anonymously, they are treated like kings. But, if someone decides to sign up for a Google account, they get punished with advertisements? That is the lamest things I have ever heard. Oh well, can you doubt the idea coming from a building full of PhDs?
