Nokia 6682
I sold off my Treo 600 and got myself a new Nokia 6682 today from CompUSA. Yea, I had my doubts about the Symbian OS, but they were all based on the older (6.0) version on the N-Gage QD. The 6682 runs the new version (8.0) and I had faith that they fixed most of the annoyances of 6.0. So far, for all the goofing around I have done with the 6682, none of the annoyances have showed up again -- actually, the whole iSync process is different between the QD and the 6682 (the 6682 got a new app for iSyncing, whereas the QD was doing it without an extra app). The screen on the 6682 is really nice. It is bright and sharp -- and the little dot at the top left corner of the phone is a light sensor, so that it can automatically adjust the brightness of the screen to save power. The screen is better than the Treo 600 because of the higher resolution. I do like having a device that does not require me to touch the screen for navigation -- I got away with a lot of navigation on the Treo 600 without using the screen, but there were times when I just had to touch the screen. I like key navigation much better. The 6682 worked right out of the box with my Powerbook G4 and Tiger. That was fantastic -- with the Treo 600, I had to use The Missing Sync for Palm in order to get things to work well. My Razr V3 worked out of the box also and that was cool. About the size. The 6682 is almost exactly the same size as my old Treo 600. To qualify the "almost" part: If the Treo 600 did not have that stubby antenna, the two smartphones would be the same size. With the stubby antenna, the Treo 600 just looks and feels bigger. The 6682 is light when compared to the Treo 600. The 1.3 megapixel camera on the 6682 is pretty nice. It takes decent pictures. Anyways, I just wanted to jot down some quick thoughts about the 6682. I will write more about it later. On a side note, let me whine about the Palm Treo 700w. Why Palm? Why did you have to go Windows? And why can't you get rid of the stupid antenna?
