It looks like the PS3 will be delayed. The culprit is the Blu-ray drive that is going into the system. That would push the launch from May to about October 2006. I think this delay is actually a good thing for Sony. Why? Because a launch during the holiday season is much better than a launch in a dead period like May. The launch of the PSP in March and that was silly because only hardcore gamers knew about the launch date. And by the time the holidays arrived, all the hype had fallen to the wayside. A launch should be during the holiday season. I think it also screws up Microsoft. Microsoft wanted to mess with Sony's launch of the PS3 by launch Halo 3 at the same time. Now, we'll see if Microsoft can hold off the launch of Halo 3 until the 2006 holiday season.
