My cheap $40 print server from CompUSA is apparently a Edimax PS-1206U. I was poking around the Edimax site and found some new firmware and gave it a shot. What a cool deal. It looks like the version of firmware on the CompUSA version of the box is crippled. When I upgraded to the Edimax firmware, it unlocked all sorts of features and a better admin interface. Not that I actually need some of the unlocked stuff -- Netware? AppleTalk? Nah, don't need that. But, there are nice new features like a more advanced configuration menu, SMB support, a working printer status page, and more. I guess it pays to search around.
