Now Starring...

Thank you Auntie Joy Joy and Uncle Albert! For Jacob's birth, they gave us a Panasonic PV-GS300 MiniDV Camcorder! Yup, little Jacob will now get a LOT of video shot of him. My Powerbook G4, iMovieHD and iDVD will also get quite a workout also. The camcorder is really nice. The best thing about it (other than the cool ability to talk with iMovie) is the 3CCD capture. That makes for some pretty sharp and vivid movie capture.  It also has a 3.1 megapixel camera built-in (complete with SD slot for flash storage).  There is also an Optical Image Stabilizer.  OIS is different than Electronic Image Stabilizer in that it uses the optics to stabilize handshaking -- EIS reduces the resolution of the video by using a smaller portion of the CCD to capture, while having the outside part of the CCD as "buffer" for shakes.  Here is a review of the camera by Macworld:  "The Panasonic PV-GS300 is a great choice for shooters who don’t mind spending a little extra for quality, but who don’t want to lay out a lot of cash for a high-end camera such as the PV-GS500. It has most of the features that most users need."  The camera is wonderful!  Thank you Joyce and Albert!  Be prepared for lots of Jacob DVDs to be arriving by mail!
