Custom Fonts for Kindle

november 2, 2013

I wanted to have custom fonts on my Kindle Paperwhite and found that it is pretty easy:

  1. Connect Kindle to computer via USB.
  2. Create a file named "USE_ALT_FONTS" in the root directory of the Kindle drive.
  3. Create a new folder named "fonts" in the root directory of the Kindle drive.
  4. Copy OTF or TTF font files into the "fonts" directory.
  5. Reboot Kindle via the settings menu.

The only limit is that there can only be two custom fonts at a time.

Update: I went through a bunch of fonts and the best one for me is Rokkitt.
