Sony Alpha 7CR

I picked up a new camera that is an upgrade from my Sony a7II that I got during the pandenmic to take pictures when the world came to a halt.

I wanted a smaller (slight) camera body with an upgraded sensor (61MP). I also wanted to have the new AI driven autofocus which is stupid fast. I was looking at different smaller cameras to use as a travel camera.

The box was pretty sparse, but it did have a nice grip extension included (the a7CII does not have this included). It would have been nice of Sony to include at least a USB-C charging cable (and maybe even a charging block).
Tip: If the battery is completely flat out of the box, charge it in the camera and when the charging light turns off, take the battery out and put it back in. I found that the camera continued to complain of an “exhausted battery” after the battery was fully charged.

I chose the black on black camera body instead of the silver on black color scheme. I am boring like that. I also got the Sony 40mm f/2.5 prime lens because it’s small and a really nice focal length – I already have the 50mm f/1.8 (nifty fifty).
The choice of a small lens was part of building out a small and light travel camera.
