I am still looking at this cool piece of OpenSource software named MythTV which is a PVR (Personal Video Recorder). It is at 0.11 release, but there seems to be a lot of buzz about the software. I would try to set a handy PVR based on this software but it still seems a bit difficult to setup. Freevo is an alternative which looks easier to setup, but it does not come with the pause live TV function that MythTV has. I guess I will wait until MythTV gets a bit easier to setup. The price, I figure will be under what I would pay for a TiVo -- because the TiVo hardware cost plus the cost for the guide will be a fairly high amount.
