Microsoft Is Off "Innovating" Again

march 24, 2004

Looks like Microsoft is off "innovating" again. This time they are releasing Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (you know, Windows for Handhelds and Smartphones). Included innovations? "Adding support for square screen sizes" which Palm has been doing for years now. How about tweaking "its pocket Internet Explorer browser to allow Web pages to be read in a single column, eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling"? Strange, PalmOne's WebPro, Handspring's Blazer, and Sony's Netfront all had this before too. "We continue to learn from both our customers and our competitors," said Ed Suwanjindar, Microsoft lead product manager. "Learn" or "copy" Ed? I think the latter.
