Lost

june 2, 2005

The DVR caught the pilot episode of Lost last night and I just watch the first ten minutes of the show while I was scarfing down a turkey sandwich for breakfast. I must say, the first ten minutes of Lost is the best ten minutes of TV I have ever seen. It is tense, emotional, and engaging all without much dialogue. The visuals and audio of the first ten minutes of the series -- a pupil contracting, the whine of an airplane engine, the explosions, the fear on peoples faces, and more -- have a deep impact. Now that the series has finished its first season, I have to say that it has lost a little bit a long the way when compared to the pilot episode. That being said, it is still one of the finest hours on TV.
