I dropped a second 160GB drive into the server and am going to be using it for some backups. I already do nightly tape backups, but it'll be nice to have some incremental backups during the day. I found this good tutorial on how to setup snapshots of a filesystem using rsync. Very easy and very useful. Check it out. Update: I made some changes to the scripts so that they are more flexible. You'll still want to read the instructions above, but feel free to use my versions of the scripts for your rysnc snapshots. The scripts on that page are hardcoded to sync only /home. I want to do more than just that, so I made the scripts more flexible. Here they are: make_snapshot and daily_snapshot_rotate. Enjoy!
