Google's Soul? Sold.

december 17, 2005

Google has sold its soul. And the purchaser is ... AOL. Yikes.

Google, which prides itself on the purity of its search results, agreed to give favored placement to content from AOL throughout its site, something it has never done before.
And get ready for the pollution of those spare white spaces on Google search pages.
negotiators agreed to promote AOL's services across Google.com, a change for the company that made famous the sparse white Web page.
If somehow you really believed that Google was going to stay the same after its IPO, you were way wrong. Get ready for the portalization of Google. I firmly believe, in a few months Google will be where Yahoo! was...in 2000. Welcome to the past.
