I stumbled upon these instructions by Emarty69 at HowardForums. They aren't that hard to follow, just remember to make a backup of the three files. The great thing is that I can access my Yahoo! Messenger via my Moto SLVR without having to resort to text messenging (ie. lots of extra cost). By enabling the Wireless Village application on my SLVR, I can now have Yahoo! Messenger access via my unlimited GPRS connection. Awesome! I'm going to duplicate the instructions from above on my page just in case they get lost on the forum.
These instructions are for MY unbranded L7 on T-Mobile USA. 1) Do you have the Motorola Instant Messenger enabled on your phone? No... Goto step 2. Yes... Goto step 6. 2) Hook up you L7 to your computer. Using P2KManager, download SEEM 0032_0001 to your computer. Using P2KTools, hit REFRESH, and go into a/mobile/system directory and download mma_ucp and mma_dcp to your computer. MAKE BACKUPS of all three files, so you can restore them if you have to 3) ENABLING THE MOTOROLA IM Start up XVI32 and load SEEM 0032_0001. Goto Offset 65 Hit "Tools" then "Bit Manipulation" and place a check mark on Bit 1 Save and Exit. Now that you have enabled the Motorla IM, you have to place it in your menu system on your phone. You have to replace a menu item which you do not use in order to make space for this new menu item. I have chosen to replace "SIM Applications" in my Tools menu. You may choose to replace any other menu item you want, but these intstructions are specific to MY menu choice. 4) UPDATING YOUR MENU FILES Start up XVI32 and load mma_dcp. Goto Offset 2BC. You will notice on the right half of XVI32 (the 2nd big window) it says SIMMApp. (Don't worry about the "A" in front of SIMApp) You want to replace these characters. Starting at Offset 2BC, which reads "53" enter the following: 49 4D 00 00 00 00. Now you'll see that on the right half of XVI32 it says IM instead of SIMMApp. * Please note that there is an "A" at the beginning of "IM" so it actually looks like it says "AIM" Do NOT mess with the "A". Just leave it. Save and Exit. Repeat the same process for mma_ucp Start up XVI32 and load mma_ucp. Goto Offset 2BC. You will notice on the right half of XVI32 (the 2nd big window) it says SIMMApp. (Don't worry about the "A" in front of SIMApp) You want to replace these characters. Starting at Offset 2BC, which reads "53" enter the following: 49 4D 00 00 00 00. Hit REFRESH Make sure you change the attribute for mma_dcp to "system" (check mark "system" and hit CHANGE. Exit. Restart your phone. 6) Go into Tools menu and you should see the IM icon. Select it. Select "New Account" and enter the following info... IM ID: "yourID"@yahoo.com Password: "yourpassword" IM Server: 216.155.165.050 (this is for T-Mobile USA) IM Port: 8080 Post URL: http://wirelessvillage.yahoo.t-mobile.com (this is for T-Mobile USA) Secure login: No 7) You will be prompted to enter ISP settings when you first try to run Yahoo! Enter... GPRS APN: wap.voicestream.com (this is for T-Mobile USA) User name: (leave blank) Password: (leave blank) You should be good to go!!!
