The Batman: Sound and Cinematography

Ever since screening The Batman, I have been very curious about how writer/director Matt Reeves and his crew put together the movie. I ran into this fascinating two-part series on Dolby’s YouTube Channel in which Matt Reeves and crew discuss the making of The Batman.

Outside of some not very subtle marketing pushes for Dolby Vision and Atmos, these two videos are a interesting look into how the movie was made and the thought behind the decisions about what The Batman would look and sound like.

Part One is all about sound and features Matt Reeves along with musical score composer Michael Giacchino; supervising sound editors Will Files and Douglas Murray; and re-recording mixer Andy Nelson.

Part Two is about cinematography and features Matt Reeves along with director of photography Greig Fraser and supervising and lead digital colorist David Cole.
